This November, Jakarta will host one of 2025’a most dynamic gatherings for the ASEAN architect community: the ‘Shaping Resilient Future: Heritage and Modernity in Steel Architectural Design’ symposium. The landmark event unites Ikatan Arsitek Indonesia (IAI), Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), the Association of Siamese Architects under Royal Patronage (ASA), the University of Architecture Ho Chi Minh City (UAH), AustCham Singapore and BlueScope in a powerful collaboration to explore how steel architecture can bridge cultural heritage and modern innovation. A highlight of this year’s symposium is the participation of the prestigious Glenn Murcutt Architecture Foundation Australia, bringing globally renowned design insights to the region. The symposium also marks the exciting launch of the 2026 ASEAN Steel Architectural Awards presented by BlueScope.

The strong partnership behind the event is a group of like-minded organisations focused on advancing the industry and celebrating the innovation, creativity and authenticity of the region’s architects. Its origins lie in the bi-annual ASEAN Steel Architectural Awards, which were created by BlueScope in 2024 to widespread acclaim. The symposium is taking place between two awards cycles and provides an important platform for inspirational knowledge sharing from award winners and leading architects from across the region.

A much-anticipated feature of the symposium will be the attendance of the respected Glenn Murcutt Architecture Foundation Australia. The Foundation, named after Australia’s most celebrated living architect and Pritzker Prize laureate Glenn Murcutt AO, is renowned for its commitment to culturally sensitive, environmentally responsible design. Its presence at the symposium provides a valuable opportunity for ASEAN architects to engage with world-class thought leadership. Representing the Foundation is Ar. Nick Sissons, AIA, RIBA of Sissons Architects, a scholar of Glenn Murcutt’s design philosophy, who will share insights into his work and impact.

Complementing this is the keynote speaker Ar. Steve Woodland, BArch FRAIA AIUS MDIA, Creative Director at COX Architecture, one of Australia’s largest and most successful award-winning architectural practices. With over 45 years of professional experience, Steve has led design on numerous nationally and internationally acclaimed projects. He will deliver an enlightening speech on emerging design directions from Australia and beyond, focusing on the evolution of steel architecture to meet new living needs with adaptable solutions.

In addition, there’s a series of panel discussions which will create a lively forum for collective learning with speakers already confirmed including: Ar. Kulthida Songkittipakdee from Jenchieh Hung + Kulthida Songkittipakdee/HAS design and research, Thailand; Eng. Do Huu Nhat Quang, Co-Founder and Managing Director from GreenViet in Vietnam; Ts. Leong Sai Pink, Head of the Sustainability Unit at Gamuda Land, Malaysia; and Ar Budi Pradono, founder a research-based architecture & urbanism firm at budi pradono architects a+u. The panel discussions will be moderated by Ar. Intanon Chantip, Founder of INchan-atelier, an architectural and interior design firm based in Thailand.

“Celebrates our collective dedication to resilient, culturally vibrant and visionary design. This partnership underscores the vitality of our regional alliances and will motivate the ASEAN architectural community toward bolder, more impactful achievements”, said Ar. Budi Pradono, a respected senior architect of IAI.

The ‘Shaping Resilient Future: Heritage and Modernity in Steel Architectural Design’ symposium takes place on the 27th of November in Jakarta, with the central aim of strengthening the circle of excellence in steel architectural design through knowledge sharing. Distinguished from other architectural events, it carries a unique focus on building stronger ties across ASEAN as well as between ASEAN and Australian architect communities. Around 150 industry delegates are expected to attend from across Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.

The post ASEAN Leading Architects Unite in Jakarta to Explore: ‘Shaping Resilient Future: Heritage and Modernity in Steel Architectural Design’ first appeared on Top 10 of Indonesia.

The Top Asia Corporate Ball 2024, hosted by Top 10 of Asia magazine, brought together distinguished guests from across Asia at the Grand Hyatt Hotel in Kuala Lumpur. This glittering annual gala celebrated excellence, honouring industry leaders, innovators, and trailblazers for their exceptional achievements and contributions to their respective fields.

The Ball is an annual celebration event as well as an occasion to honour the achievements of influential individuals, corporations, and nations featured in their publications. Unlike traditional awards nights, it focuses on honouring success across various industries and cultures. The event has been held in major cities such as Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Bangkok, and Singapore, earning the support of governments from over 20 Asian countries. Its highlights included inspiring recognitions, captivating performances and exceptional networking opportunities, fostering both business and social connections. In addition, the Ball emphasises its commitment to philanthropy, supporting charitable causes and further cementing its status as a significant platform for both celebration and social impact.

The evening was nothing short of spectacular, marked by elegance, camaraderie and inspiration. Guests were treated to a prestigious awards ceremony, recognising excellence in 50 diverse categories. A distinguished panel of judges meticulously selected the winners for their outstanding impact on their industries. From corporate giants to cultural icons, the honourees epitomised the spirit of innovation, progress and excellence.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Lee Seng Chee, Managing Editor of Top 10 of Asia magazine, expressed pride in celebrating these achievements. “We are incredibly proud to honour the individuals and organisations who have made remarkable contributions to various industries,” he said, setting the tone for an inspiring night.

The event also celebrated nations that have left a profound mark on Asia’s cultural and economic landscape. Indonesia was awarded Asia’s Best Emerging Market Economy for its remarkable economic growth and resilience, with the award presented to His Excellency Dato’ Indera Hermono. With steady GDP growth, a burgeoning middle class, and a commitment to infrastructure development, Indonesia has emerged as a regional powerhouse. Its strategic policies to attract foreign investment, diversify industries, and promote digital transformation have positioned the country as a dynamic and competitive market. Additionally, Indonesia’s focus on sustainability and inclusive growth underscores its dedication to long-term development. These achievements reflect the country’s leadership in navigating global economic challenges and solidify its reputation as a standout emerging economy in Asia.

The award was granted to Indonesia based on extensive research and surveys conducted by Top 10 of Asia magazine, gathering valuable input from industry experts, analysts, and audiences across the region. This thorough evaluation process ensured that Indonesia’s recognition as Asia’s Best Emerging Market Economy was a true reflection of its impressive growth, resilience and forward-thinking policies.

Among the key highlights of the awards was the recognition of leaders in environmental, social and governance (ESG) initiatives. Federal Express Services Malaysia (FedEx), Watson’s Personal Care Stores, Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad, and YTL Corporation stood out for their commitment to sustainability and positive social impact. Additionally, other notable recipients included RF3 World Sdn Bhd, Corus KLCC, Mr. Tuk Tuk, and Biovisma Sdn Bhd, further showcasing a diverse array of excellence across sectors.

Beyond the awards, the evening featured stellar entertainment that kept the energy vibrant.
Leading figures in the Indonesian real estate sector are offering optimistic projections as the industry gears up to commemorate the 10th edition of the PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards in 2024.

Prospects for Indonesian property have potential for improvement as the market stands to benefit from a range of proposed changes, according to experts gathered today at The Westin Jakarta for the Indonesia CEO & Leaders Forum 2024.

The most prestigious event in Indonesia’s real estate industry is set for Friday, 23 August 2024 at The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta, Pacific Place.

The event, organised by PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards with the support of PropertyKlik.com, discussed various initiatives expected to impact the sector, from new monetary policies to public housing strategies.

The Indonesia CEO & Leaders Forum 2024 builds anticipation for the black-tie gala dinner and presentation ceremony of the 10th Annual PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards, presented by Kohler and supported by official partner, PropertyKlik.com, which will provide publicity for the event and the awardees targeting property seekers.

Submissions from the industry and the public are now accepted via asiapropertyawards.com until 31 May 2024.

Key dates for the 2024 edition:

31 May 2024 – Entries close

17 June – 19 July 2024 – Site Inspections

13 December 2024 – Regional Grand Final Gala Presentation in Bangkok, Thailand

A significant year for Indonesia

The 10th edition of the awards comes in a potentially significant year for Indonesian housing. Following a decisive election year, the new administration has unveiled ambitious plans to build three million homes across the archipelago, aimed at addressing housing needs in rural, urban and coastal regions.

Prior to the February election, the previous government had unveiled a raft of measures expected to revive the residential sector, including new breaks for property purchases and the long-awaited loosening of requirements for foreign property buyers.

The market also gained some uplift last year from the completion of large-scale infrastructure projects such as Whoosh, the first high-speed train in Southeast Asia.

Agrarian reforms are also poised to have a beneficial impact on the property sector. Dr. Dalu Agung Darmawan, M.Si, director general of agrarian management, Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning of the Republic of Indonesia, said: “To support the growth of the property sector in Indonesia, especially during the 2045 demographic bonus, the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning / National Land Agency plans to carry out ‘agrarian reform’ which aims to narrow inequality in property ownership, encouraging socio-economic equality among society as a whole.”

Dr. Darmawan was joined at the forum by a high-level roster of speakers including Ir. Fitrah Nur, M.Si, director of public and commercial homes, Ministry of Public Works and Housing of the Republic of Indonesia; Ignesjz Kemalawarta, chief for strategic research, DPP REI at Real Estate Indonesia; Jules Kay, general manager of PropertyGuru Asia Property Awards and Events; and Vivin Harsanto, chairperson of the panel of judges of the PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards and senior director and head of advisory of JLL Indonesia. The forum was moderated by Marine Novita, chief executive officer of PropertyKlik.com, the official partner.

A one-stop solution for selling, buying, and renting real estate, PropertyKlik.com aims to help Indonesians achieve their dream homes and make the right property decisions through information, guidance and technology.

Biggest, boldest achievers

To mark the 10th edition, the PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards diversify this year with new categories, rewarding more of the biggest and boldest achievers in the real estate industry.

The new edition aims to recognise achievements across more than 80 categories, spanning outstanding enterprises, designs and projects from Jabodetabek to Greater Indonesia. The expansion of categories comes at a transformative time for the property sector.

The 2024 Awards include the all-new ESG categories, honouring developers that champion sustainable design, sustainable construction, energy efficiency and social impact.

The PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards 2024 includes the all-new ESG categories, honouring developers that champion sustainable design, sustainable construction, energy efficiency and social impact.

The newly expanded roster of categories also includes an honour for the country’s finest international partner developer. Other new categories honour the country’s finest mega-township projects, investment properties, nature-integrated developments, serviced offices and sales galleries.

Jules Kay said: “We proudly open the landmark 10th edition of the PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards as this nation of 274 million potential property seekers enters an era of transformation and transition. Commemorating a decade of excellence in Indonesian real estate, we anticipate a dynamic future for the archipelago on the back of initiatives and incentives to stimulate its property market. As economic recovery accelerates alongside unprecedented transport expansions and relaxed visa policies, we look forward to showcasing Indonesia’s diverse and appealing real estate from Jakarta to Bali this year.”

The Indonesia CEO & Leaders Forum 2024 builds anticipation for the black-tie gala dinner and presentation ceremony of the 10th Annual PropertyGuru Indonesia Property Awards, presented by Kohler and supported by official partner, PropertyKlik.com

Industry luminaries

The winners of the 2024 Awards are determined by an independent panel of judges, composed of luminaries in the property sector and related fields.

Vivin Harsanto said: “We invite great developers out there to showcase the strength and stability of the Indonesian property market alongside the latest edition of our Awards. Encouraged by an active industrial property segment, strong sentiment for landed homes and beneficial infrastructural projects, we maintain an optimistic outlook in a full recovery of Indonesia’s property market, with our resilient award winners ultimately forging the way forward to growth.”

The professionally run, fully transparent selection process is impartial, fair and credible, thanks to the supervision of HLB Hadori Sugiarto Adi & Rekan – HLB Indonesia.
